Imagine yourself sitting on the deck of this fabulous beachfront house surrounded by fellow writers, discussing the morning’s workshop, or maybe the fantastic Lowcountry dinner last night…. You get up, fix yourself a drink and grab some leftover chocolate cake, contemplate a lazy walk on the beach. But no, you don’t want to miss the afternoon speaker. Or networking with the impressive array of published authors attending the retreat, getting the inside skinny on how to submit your ms to your targeted publisher (and trust me, that’s the only “skinny” that’ll be around this weekend). Then the LRWA BEACH BOUND RETREAT is for you!
But if you would prefer to grab your laptop and closet yourself in your private room, or out on one of several fantastic ocean-view decks, or in some cozy corner of this multi-million dollar mansion, and JUST WRITE, then you should choose one of the three LRWA HERMIT WEEKS. We will be strictly enforcing a quiet worktime atmosphere during the days, but in the evenings we will gather for a collective mealtime and socializing. Naturally, if you prefer to continue to work, no one will bother you. The number of Hermit Week attendees will be very limited, so get your reservation in early!
But wait! That’s not all! This year we are thrilled to bring you the second annual JUMPSTART MASTER CLASS, directly preceding the retreat weekend. In this exciting week, four best-selling, award-winning authors will lead beginner and intermediate workshops in all the important craft aspects of writing, which will allow you to give that first or second novel a real kickstart. Three workshops per day plus group manuscript critiquing in the evenings are included in this super-intensive week.
The beachfront mansion is within a few blocks of a grocery store, several great restaurants, and a quaint island shopping area. Historic downtown Charleston is a short 15 minute drive. Charleston International Airport is just 25 minutes away.
ALL reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis.

2010 Fees per person
Beach Bound Retreat Fee*:
Full Board:
$250, LRWA: $165
Includes workshops, shared queen-sized bed and all meals through Sunday brunch
Daytrippers (for Saturday AND Sunday):
$125, LRWA: $75
Includes workshops, all meals on Saturday and Sunday brunch
Friday welcome dinner: $20 flat fee (daytrippers only)
Hermit Week Fee*:
Single ocean view $550; Single island view $500; Double ocean view (shared bed) $475; Double island view $425, LRWA: $50 discount, must be a member for ONE YEAR PRIOR for discount

* The fine print: CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY: Deposit required. Full payment is required by July 31. Refunds will be given for written cancellations (minus a $50 handling fee) received on or before July 31, 2010. After July 31, 2010, refunds will be given (minus a $50 handling fee) only if you or LRWA are able to fill your reserved spot with a paying attendee. NO EXCEPTIONS for any reason whatsoever.
